Trenching in Melbourne's west

Straight, clean trenches for drainage, plumbing, power and irrigation, dug around Melton, Melbourne's west and the Macedon Ranges in Victoria, Australia. We dig to the depth your trade sets and backfill once the run is in. The operator comes with the machine, so this isn't dry hire.

  • Dug to the depth your trade specifies.
  • Backfilled and levelled once the run is in.
  • Spoil stockpiled beside it or carted off.

What sets the price on a trench

Length is the part people quote over the phone and the part that matters least. Depth moves it more, because a deeper trench shifts more ground and needs more room to work in. Width does the same. So does what the run goes through: open lawn, a driveway, tree roots, or ground that's been built up.

The rest is what happens after. A trench that gets backfilled and levelled off is one job. A trench under a driveway or through a lawn that has to go back the way it was found is another one, and it's worth settling which you're paying for before anyone digs.

What the job involves

Clean, accurate trenches for drainage, plumbing, power and irrigation runs.

  • Drainage and stormwater runs
  • Plumbing and power trenches dug to your trade's spec
  • Irrigation runs across lawns and garden lines
  • Backfilled once the pipe or cable is in
  • Spoil stockpiled in a tidy line or carted off, your call
  • Short runs as well as full lengths

The four runs we dig, and who sets the depth

We don't set trench depths. The trade or the plan that owns the run does, and we dig to it. Here's who that is for each kind of run, and what happens to the ground once the pipe or the cable is in.

The run What goes in it Who sets the depth
Drainage and stormwater Pipe taking water off the block Your plumber, or the drainage plan
Plumbing Water and sewer lines Your plumber
Power A cable run out to a shed, a studio or a pool Your electrician
Irrigation Watering lines across a lawn or through garden beds Your irrigation plan, or us with you if there isn't one

Every run is backfilled and the surface levelled off once your trade has finished in it. The spoil sits in a tidy line beside the trench while that's happening, or it goes with us. Your call, agreed when we quote.

That depends on the machine on the job and what the trench is for. Drainage, plumbing, power and irrigation all sit at different depths, and it's your plumber, electrician or plan that sets the number. Tell us the depth they've asked for and we'll confirm what we can do when we quote.

Tell us the depth and the run and we'll price it

Where it starts, where it finishes, and what your plumber or sparky has asked for. That's enough to give you a number.
